Medical Reserve Corps - Region 4

The Uncas Health District Medical Reserve Corps (Uncas MRC) is a national network of community-based volunteers who are on standby to support public health infrastructure in times of emergency.  Members receive many free trainings that will help in their ability to strengthen public health, reduce vulnerability and disaster risk, build resiliency, and improve community preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities.

The Uncas MRC is made up of medical professionals as well as non-medical support personnel. The purpose of the Uncas MRC is to allow volunteers to contribute their skills and expertise throughout the year as well as during times of community need. The Uncas MRC regularly participates in special events including seasonal flu clinics, health expos, recruitment at fairs and festivals and blood pressure screening clinics just to name a few.

All volunteers receive free training through CT-Train, at monthly unit meetings, numerous drills and exercises and courses held throughout the region.

More information about the Medical Reserve Corp program can be found by visiting www.phe.gov/mrc/Pages/default.aspx
